Interesting Info on Fleece
Fleece is a synthetic material made from 100% polyester. It was created in 1979 by Malden Mills, who coined the term Polar Fleece.
Fleece has similar properties to wool, but weighs much less. As fleece is made from polyester, it doesn't absorb water, break down in appearance, or absorb odors. As such, fleece keeps you warm and insulated even when wet. Fleece is also light-weight and dries quickly. And, since fleece is light-weight, you perspire less while retaining the body's heat. Fleece is also very durable and can last for years (FYI...did you know that polyester comes from recycled plastics such as soda bottles? TRUE).
Modern fleece products have anti-pill qualities and are made with a large range of properties. These include a variety of weights, including "summer" weights, colours, stretch, and water & wind resistant.
Care of your No-Knot Fleece Scarf
As fleece is made of polyester it is heat sensitive. Hot dryers, steam, and irons should be avoided to reduce pilling. Pressing the fleece with the fingers usually does the job. However...if you MUST iron your fleece, you should first test the iron on a piece of scrap fleece. You must also make sure that your iron is set on a low temperature and as added protection for your No-Knot Scarf, use a cloth between the fleece and the iron.
When washing, you can use a washing machine (YAH!)...NO Problems here...Don't worry, hand washing is optional, but sometimes easier when just washing one item...BUT you do have to use cool to lukewarm water. And, NEVER use bleach or fabric softeners (in the washer or dryer). It is also best to wash separately or at least not with other objects that produce a lot of lint.
You can air-dry your No-Knot Scarf in the dryer on cool or low temperature setting, but NEVER on hot. If you can, hang to dry. And, lastly, do not dry clean.
If you follow these few simple steps your No-Knot Scarf will stay looking great for years!!!
